(Lawn Crypt Feasibility Evaluation)

JEA was retained by the Diocese of Philadelphia to perform a feasibility evaluation of installing double-depth lawn crypts (pre-need burial vaults) in two (2) sections of the cemetery. The Cemetery desired to install double-depth, precast concrete, lawn crypts and sought an evaluation of existing soil/rock and groundwater conditions and assessment of feasibility for installing these crypts. For this project, JEA was responsible for completion and oversight of exploratory test pits, evaluation of soil/rock/groundwater conditions, estimate of soil and rock excavation/drainage system installation/crypt installation costs, evaluation of permitting requirements, preparation of a feasibility report, and meeting with the Diocese and Cemetery staff to review and discuss the findings.

While under previous employment, Teal Jefferis, PE was retained by Cooper Wilbert Vault Company (CWVC) and Everlasting Vault Company (EVC), who were under contract to the Veterans Cemetery to manufacture precast concrete lawn crypts, to prepare and oversee the preparation of design calculations, detailed plans, reinforcement design and specifications, and oversee/monitor vault load testing for single & double depth lawn crypts. These calculations, plans and testing results were presented to the Veterans Cemetery and its consultants for review and approval prior to commencement of manufacturing.

New Saint Mary’s Cemetery
(Grave Stone Foundation Strip Design)
Browning Road, Borough of Bellmawr, Camden Co., NJ
While under previous employment, Teal Jefferis, PE was retained by Cooper Wilbert Vault Company (CWVC) to prepare a design of a cast-in-place, continuous concrete foundation strip for grave stone markers, and assist with construction oversight. The continuous foundation strips were sought by the Cemetery to support the numerous monument/stones for existing unoccupied grave sites in one section of the cemetery. Following design, Mr. Jefferis assisted CWVC with oversight of the construction of these reinforced concrete strips.
